In a Flash - Character Creation Made Easy! (by Valalerin)

This is the all new ‘In a Flash – Character Creation Made Easy!’ system by Valalerin, your friendly local… Guy.

Here’s how it works:

Easily define your character in basic terms, generate brand new ideas for characters or round off your character to make it more believable in RP. Guaranteed to prevent Mary-Sues and still provide interesting characters!

You have 100 points to spend in 20 categories. You don’t need to be smart to know that means you could have an even spread of 5 points in each. Each category goes up to 10 points, with 0 being the lowest and 10 being the highest. You can spread the wealth around however you want, being sure to keep within the 100 point guideline.

The stats:

1. Attractiveness (0 – Ugly, 10 – Beautiful)
2. Wit (0 – Witless, 10 – Word Maestro)
3. Intelligence (0 – Imbecile, 10 – Genius)
4. Physical Prowess (0 – Martial Moron, 10 – Combatant Pro)
5. Muscular Strength (0 – Weedy Weed, 10 – Arnold Schwarzenegger)
6. Attention Span (0 – Easily Distracted, 10 – Single-minded)
7. Pain Resilience (0 – Cry baby, 10 – Hard nut)
8. Lustfulness (0 – Loveless twit, 10 – Sensual Seeker)
9. Greed (0 – Greedy Gus, 10 – Noble Nigel)
10. Cash Flow (0 – Lowly beggar, 10 – Richie Rich)
11. Arcane Attunement (0 – Mystified, 10 – Mastered)
12. State of Mind (0 – Crazy, 10 – Ocean of Serenity)
13. Bravery (0 – Coward, 10 – Lion)
14. Marksmanship (0 – Aimless, 10 – Hawk-eyed)
15. Temptation Resistance (0 – Bought like that, 10 – Infinite cost!)
16. Resourcefulness (0 – One-Shot man, 10 – Connected)
17. Recovery (0 – Panics at failure, 10 – Easily comes back)
18. Intimidation Factor (0 – Huggy Bear, 10 – Scary Monster)
19. Sense of Humour (0 – Not a joker, 10 – Star of the Show)
20. Threat Assessment (0 – Mindless, 10 – Mindful)

I’ll give you an example, Valalerin’s basic definition:

Attractiveness: 0 (He’s far from a looker)
Wit: 8 (He rips people apart with words)
Intelligence: 8 (He’s lived long enough to know how it works)
Physical Prowess: 7 (He’s skilled, but it’s not his best area)
Muscular Strength: 6 (He’s stronger than some, but not than all)
Attention Span: 3 (He gets distracted from his main goal relatively easily)
Pain Resilience: 9 (He can take a big beating before going down)
Lustfulness: 1 (He’s not into love, it’s a petty area)
Greed: 4 (Money makes the world go round)
Cash Flow: 4 (If only he had the cash himself)
Arcane Attunement: 8 (His skill with the Arcane is bemusing)
State of Mind: 2 (He’s a madman)
Bravery: 6 (He’s brave, but he’ll run if it gets too tough)
Marksmanship: 10 (What did you expect?)
Temptation Resistance: 2 (Power, you say? Where do I sign?)
Resourcefulness: 4 (He’ll try a few things, but if the initial plan fails he’s out)
Recovery: 2 (If it doesn’t work, it’ll take time to calm for a second attempt)
Intimidation Factor: 10 (He’s a scary old bugger)
Sense of Humour: 0 (Who is unlikely to laugh at… Anything)
Threat Assessment: 6 (He can usually tell what’s too tough, but he’s wrong quite a lot)

As you can see, this helps make characters that are good, but not without weakness. This guarantees you’ll have a weakness and ample strengths, Valalerin’s main weakness is his state of mind, he’s crazy and easily distracted, but if challenged to a fight his strengths shine. You can also twist the facts to cover the weakness, since Valalerin is insane, he’ll often start the fight before the bribery can commence.

Go wild, make some interesting characters, or define your own in here so that confrontations in Open RPs will be made easier.
(E.g. My character has 2 Muscular Strength, and another has 9, if they have an arm wrestle my character should logically fail tremendously, but if I don’t know then I might still win due to lack of prior knowledge.)

Pride: 0 - Humble | 10 - Proud

Rashness: 0 - Thinks before he acts | 10 - Acts before he thinks

General Culture: 0 - Thrall who? | 10 - Highly Cultured

Memory: 0 - Where am I? | 10 - Noticed you in the tram two decades ago.
